In order to keep our readers updated on what is going on with JOP - Journal of the Pancreas, we have decided to create JOPnews - a totally free of charge alerting service, based on an electronic newsletter that is sent to all those subscribing to it.

JOPnews is sent to its subscribers every time a new number of JOP is available. It includes the table of contents of that number, plus a number of important highlights on the most significant scientific news and events in the field of pancreatology.
In this way our readers will immediately know what articles and/or news in JOP new numbers are of special interest to them.

Please send us your e-mail address if you would like to subscribe to JOPnews

We hope that this initiative will be judged useful by our readers and we greatly appreciate any comments and suggestions that might improve the service.

REMINDER: MULTIMEDIA ARTICLES - SLIDE SHOW

JOP proposes to its readers a new type of "Multimedia article": a Slide Show. In addition to the usual .PDF and .HTML formats, scientific material can be made available also in the form of a PowerPoint presentation.

REMINDER: RESEARCH NEGATIVE RESULTS: THEY CAN BE IMPORTANT

Talking about debates, JOP would like to invite any interested colleagues to start a discussion about researches producing negative results.
Generally, they do not get published.
These researches should become part of the shared knowledge, but to-day they are not available throughout scientific community.
In JOP opinion, this is causing a serious damage to science and, probably, to the entire society.
Actions should be taken about this problem.

REMINDER: RESEARCH SOURCE DATA AND STATISTICS MAY BE PUBLISHED IN JOP

Authors who publish in JOP can make their original data, reports of statistical analysis, as well as any other materials that they judge important, freely available to the scientific community. This will greatly improve the knowledge of their results and represents an undoubted enhancement of the quality of publication practices by reducing the possibility of misconduct related to data analysis.
To learn more look at the Highlight Article published in the November 2003 JOP issue.
It has been possible to undertake such an initiative thanks to the new opportunities provided by the JOP electronic format and copyright policy.
